Suggest Treatment For Burning Pain While Urinating

Hi, i have self diagnosed myself with Cystitis (with help from the internet by typing in my symptoms-which is a burning pain towards the end of my pee, light pink coloured drop at the end, and an urgency to pee often.) I have had it for 2 days now and have been taking the canesten oasis treatment which i was recommended by the chemist. After 2 days it has still not cleared up and seems to be getting worse...would you recommend a trip to the doctors? if the answer is yes, as it is christmas time i am very worried that my condition will get worse due to the fact i won t be able to see a doctor soon. thank you

Hi,

These symptoms are suggestive of uroinfection and this is common in your age and usually is manifested with pain during urination, fever and changes in urination frequency. Also, blood traces may be present in urine which can have odour or colour change.

Other common cause are urinary stones. Diagnosis is established by doing urine analysis and urinoculture and after this antibiotic treatment may be started if necessary. If there is negative urine analysis then you should do ultrasound of kidneys to check for stones. You should drink plenty of fluids and take raspberry tea or juice to promote urination.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
