Suggest Treatment For Bump Near To Ear

Hi, my 2.5 yr old son has fever since last 2 days and I just notcied he has a lilttle bump/cyst behind his left year. I think it's a little painful for him because he touches his jaw and cries sometimes. Ould the fever be related to this? He has been on neuron and panadol and his pain and fever subsides for a few hours after the medicines.

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi, welcome to HCM.
Your child has fever for 2 days and now developed a painful swelling behind left year, this appears to be post auricular lymphadenitis.
In post auricular lymphadenitis, usually fever is present, sometimes cough also present and the swelling is tender to touch.
In my opinion, an antibiotic like cefpodoxime (5 ml= 50 mg concentration) should be given 5 ml three times a day for 3 days, and panadol and neuron should be continued.
I hope this has helped you. Take care.
