Suggest Treatment For Bruising From Knee To Toes After An Injury

Ten days ago I missed one step and fell hard on my knees. I am bruised from above the knee to my toes. I am on Coumadin . Today my knee has become warm and is still quite swollen. I am told that there may be blood collecting on the knee. How dangerous is this?

Hello and welcome to HCM,
Bruising over knees after falling is expected and is a normal phenomenon.
Bruising is caused by rupture and bleeding of small blood vessels in the soft tissue.
The hemorrhage caused by bleeding of small vessels clears away over a period of 7-10 days.
Thus, the bruise will clear away.
Coumadin is a preparation which prevents formation of clots thus, formation of any clot is unlikely.
You can take painkillers and hot fomentation to relieve the pain in knee and leg.

Thanks and take care
