Hello, I have a bruise on my thumb going from the middle knuckle down to my wrist. It is extremely swollen and sore to touch. The bruising is white in the middle, red around that and green on the very outside. Why is it these colours, and what can I do to make it better
Hi. As per your case history you are having soft tissue infection of thumb. My treatment advice is - 1. Don't squeeze the affected part as it may worsen the condition. 2. Apply a mild antibiotic cream like fusiderm cream twice daily on it. 3. Apply a NSAID like ibuprofen for pain and swelling for 5-7 days. 4. Other treatment options are oral antibiotics like levofloxacin, cefadroxil and azithromycin taken only after consulting a dermatologist.
Thanks. Dr. Harshit bhachech. MBBS, DDVL.
