Suggest Treatment For Bruise On The Back Of Leg

i found bruise the size of a tangerine on the back of my leg yesterday afternoon. My leg was achy but it wasnt too bad. By the time I went to sleep the bruise had almost doubled in size. Today my leg doesnt hurt at all but the bruise is covering 60% of the bag of my thigh now. Should I be concerned?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
Thank you for asking HC.
I carefully read your question and understand your concern.
Bruises are very common and most of them are not serious due to trauma being the most common cause. I have had many patients with bruises being their concern and most of them were OK. In your case because the bruising is getting bigger day by day and effecting a huge surface of your leg you will need to see a doctor and have some tests done like CBC, ERS, bleeding time, hemorrage time and liver tests. If these tests come out normal than we are safe to just wait and see how the bruise will act in the next few days.
Hope this is helpful and answers to your question.
