Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have breathing difficulty with chest tightness and pain which is due to bacterial infection leading to strep throat along with upper respiratory tract infection.I would suggest you to take Diphenhydramine and Dextromethorphan. You should take steam inhalation. Do warm saline gargles 3 to 4 times a day. Visit ENT specialist once and get it examined and start treatment after proper diagnosis. Get X-Ray chest done. Drink luke warm water throughout the day as it can provide relief. Doctor may also refer you to chest specialist . Take soft foods to avoid irritation to the throat. Throat lozanges one every 4 hours is helpful. It is very important to take steam which will be very helpful in relieving congestion. Your problem may also occur due to other reasons like :-
1. Gastric problems like gastritis, GERD, may seem like heartburn or burning sensation in chest, pain in sternum etc. This will relieved somewhat by taking antacids
2.Angina pectoris / heart attack- this might be symptom of heart problem like angina pectoris / heart attack. In that case you will have tightness in chest, difficulty in breathing, pain in left side of chest radiating in hand or jaw.
3. Lung diseases like pneumonia, pneumothorax can also cause these type of symptoms.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
