    Suggest treatment for brain hemorrhage

Good Evening Doctor! My mother aged 53 years suffered from brain hemorrhage on 21st Feb 2014 after she has developed a clot in brain in 2009. She was paralyzed from Sept 2009 and was stable during this period. Now she has a brain hemorrhage between forebrain and midbrain region and the size is round 2-3 cm in dia. She is in ICU from 21st Feb. I would like to know what is the time frame required for these type of patients for discharge and what are the chances of recovery i.e. partial?

Neurologist 's  Response
I read your question carefully and I understand your concern.

I am afraid this is a difficult answer for any doctor. It is hard to make predictions for any stroke without knowing the exact location and the neural pathways it has affected. In your mother's case it is even harder since she's had two previous strokes in the brain which are bound to have already left some damage.
Generally improvement after stroke is expected thanks to the unaffected part of your brain creating new connections and compensating for the damaged part, but in your mother's case there were already damages before and not much might be left to compensate.
I am sorry for not being able to be more precise in my answer, I hope things work out for the best.
