Suggest treatment for blood in urine

I fell a month ago and hit my back on the right side. I have had bleeding when I urinate since then. I was told by a MD that I had a bruised kidney. My right side abdomen is tender and crampy before I urninate. I feel nauseated all the time. I have had a headache since last thursday that will not go away and has not improved no matter what I try.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

The blood in urine after trauma at one month period, is not normal and should not be neglected. In my clinic, I recommend to undertake a CT IVP evaluation of the same and guide in accordance to that.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

last year in may I had blood in my urine. Then in June. It lasted for three to four days. Two doctorrs checked with a schope my bloder and found it ok. In ocotober a had a dob bite and I was on antibiotics for two weeks. No traces of blood afer it. I was considering TURP. My doctor wanter me to go with avodart. I did not follow it up since antibiotics cleared everything. Four days ago I hed very visible signes of blood in urine again. The same way as the first time. I had kidney Cat scan. Negative. I am very active. I run couple miles two times/week. I play tennis. I am 69.5 yrs old. Healthy and strong for 69.5. No smoke no heavy food. What is the source of blood. I am going to look for second opinion. It looks like guesing process since too many variables.

My son will be 13 in July. Last night he had urine in his blood. It has happened a couple of times before but he tells me that it only happens when his penis is hard . Can you tell me what, if any, treatment he needs or why this is happening as it is worrying him.

My 20-year-old son is 5ft 8in tall and weighs 130lbs. and has had problems with kidney stones in the past, but is otherwise in excellent physical condition. He now has blood in his urine, and is starting to feel some pressure similar to previous episodes of kidney stones. I know he drinks to many soft drinks and has not been as good as he should about following the doctors advice about other things avoid. I know that he smokes marijuana, but he denies other drug use. Is it possible that smoking marijuana could lead to blood in the urine, or make it worse?
