Suggest treatment for blood in urine

I fell a month ago and hit my back on the right side. I have had bleeding when I urinate since then. I was told by a MD that I had a bruised kidney. My right side abdomen is tender and crampy before I urninate. I feel nauseated all the time. I have had a headache since last thursday that will not go away and has not improved no matter what I try.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

The blood in urine after trauma at one month period, is not normal and should not be neglected. In my clinic, I recommend to undertake a CT IVP evaluation of the same and guide in accordance to that.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

My 20-year-old son is 5ft 8in tall and weighs 130lbs. and has had problems with kidney stones in the past, but is otherwise in excellent physical condition. He now has blood in his urine, and is starting to feel some pressure similar to previous episodes of kidney stones. I know he drinks to many soft drinks and has not been as good as he should about following the doctors advice about other things avoid. I know that he smokes marijuana, but he denies other drug use. Is it possible that smoking marijuana could lead to blood in the urine, or make it worse?

Hi, my husband, 38, has had blood in his urine for nearly 2 weeks. He has had blood tests, urine tests and an ultrasound and so far they can not find a cause. We are now waiting to see a urologist. This morning he noticed blood clots in his urine. There has been no pain. Should we just continue to wait for our urologist appointment or should he see someone today seeing as though his symptoms have changed?

I had turp on June 10, 2010. My urine flow has improved a lot. No urine block. But I have to go two to four time for urination in the night. In the month of February 2011, I saw blood and blood clotes in my urine. My urologist checked my urine and found no infections. After about 10 days, there was no blood or blood clotes in my urine. Then again after one month, I saw blood clotes in my urine and again after one week urine was again clear. Then after two weeks, I again had blood and clotes in my urine. But now again urine is clear. I am taking lots of liquid as suggested by my urologists. My body weight is normal as well as other vital signs are okay. The bleeding in urine appears after a day or so going for biking or running. I have now stopped biking or any heavy exercise. Any advice that can prevent bleeding will be greatly appreciated.
