Suggest Treatment For Blocked Nose And Cough When Diagnosed With Tracheitis

Hi I was diagnosed with tracheitis yesterday. I have a lot of pain when I cough and yesterday I had alternately steaming and blocked nose. I have woken this morning with bloody sinuses full of crusty mucous. I have a prescription for antibiotics but unable to get them until later today. I also feel extremely sick and can t eat - would that be caused by post nasal drip? Is it likely to clear up fairly quickly once the medication kicks in?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Your symptoms seem to be related to tracheitis. I recommend using anti-inflammatory medication such as Ibuprofen get three times a day.

I also recommend using saline nasal sprays for local relief. I also suggest you continue the antibiotics prescribed by your doctor. You should drink liquids and rest.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
