Suggest Treatment For Blister Caused After Ear Piercing
My daughter has a blister behind her ear piercing, we were advised to pop it, but its very painful for her and we did it with a needle, rather than tweezers as suggested. Blood comes out but not the pus ? She s in a lot of pain but wants to keep piercing. ( 1 in top of ear, one on inside to help with headaches)
I can understand your concern. Sometimes pierced areas and the peripheral areas to it may get infected while or after piercing which may cause extreme pain and swelling.
I would advise your daughter to start with antibiotics. She can take Cefixime 200 mg (Topcef) twice a day for 5 days. Do not manipulate the area with needle or tweezers and let it heal by itself. For pain, she can take Ibuprofen 400 mg or Acetaminophen 500 mg thrice a day.
However, if the pain does not go and swelling persists after 5 days, you should consult an ENT specialist for clinical examination of the area and treatment. She may have to get rid of the ring then.
I hope this information helps you. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic. I wish your daughter feels good soon.
Best, Dr. Viraj Shah
