Suggest Treatment For Black Toenail After An Injury
I had a heavy bench fall on my foot 3 weeks ago - it swelled immediately and I iced it. It is still very bruised and my 2nd toe closest to the big toe is still black. I could move it, walk on it but still tender to touch and in shoes if worn too long. I thought I was ok but now wondering if I should have it looked at
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern..
As per your complain black toenail after injury can be due to bruising only and it can take a longer time to resolve.. In case if it is still painful you should consult an Orthopedician and he can advise you to take anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen.. You can do alternate warm and cool compresses over the toes.. Apply Heparin ointment to fade off bruising.. You can also apply analgesic ointment like Diclofenac containing ointment to relieve pain.. Do not wear very tight shoes as it can cause continuous compression and cause pain..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora..
