Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
On Thursday of last week I started getting a sour stomach. I was belching a nasty odor and had severe diarrhea. It continued on thru Friday til early Saturday morning. I couldn t eat or drink anything at all. Saturdaymorning iI managed to get an egg patty down. But everything I drink including water has a horrid taste. Today I am belching and passing gas. What s going on?
Hello I appreciate your concern Looking at your description this might be related to Aerophagia ( swallowing of air) or indigestion or acid peptic disease due to stomach hyperacidity.
If I were your treating doctor I would have advised you to take anti acidity medicines like pantoprazole or ranitidine group.of drugs with antacids for 7 to 10 days and reviewed thereafter in case of no improvement I would have referred you to a gastroenterologist for an endoscopy and further evaluation.
Meanwhile apart from medicines, you should follow these guidelines Avoid fatty fried spicy and junk food or carbonated drinks Have lots of fresh fruit and vegetables Avoid smoking and alcohol
Hope this answers your question pleas feel free to ask for further queries I will be happy to help you Best wishes
