Suggest Treatment For Arthritis

I have had a sudden attack of what I think might be arthritis. It started with soreness in the left lower leg (anterior), and then progressed to aching in the left thigh (anterior), and soreness in left hip. It is hard to get up out of a chair, difficult to walk, and especially to walk up stairs. I am not having any irritation in the other leg at all. This has gone on for about ten days, is very debilitating, and wakens me up in pain. I have never had this before. I have occasionally had soreness in various joints, but never something that didn't go away in a day. I had cervical surgery 6 weeks ago, and it is healing well with no pain or numbness. I have been seen for a f/u several days before these new symptoms, and am healing well. Due to my surgery, I am not allowed to take NSAIDS for 6 months. Also, no fever or fatigue. I would welcome your ideas please. Anne

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

I have studied your case.

I will advise you to do MRI spine
Due to compression of this nerve root there can be tingling numbness in your leg and pain associated with it.

For these symptoms analgesic and neurotropic medication can be started.
Till time, avoid lifting weights, Sit with support to back. You can consult physiotherapist for help.
Physiotherapy like ultrasound and interferential therapy will give quick relief.
Core stabilizing spine exercises will help.
I will advise to check your vit B12 and vit D3 level.

Hope you have relief of your neck symptoms after cervical surgery.

Hope this answers your query. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries.

Wishing you good health.

Take care.
