I have been diagnosed with an anal fissure which I have now had for 6 weeks and given diltiazem cream to use twice a day....the discharge had stopped and I am keeping my bowel movements as soft as I can with benefibre and a good diet... It doesn t hurt much a bit sore when I go to the toilet but I am still having pinky blood when I wipe myself ( or rather dab) getting worried it won t heal as it has been so long although told they can take 12 weeks...also having 2 hottish salt baths a day can you please just give me some reassurance . General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Your symptoms seem to be related to anal fissure. The treatment of anal fissure consists of surgery. Meanwhile, I recommend using stool softeners to avoid constipation. I also recommend drinking liquids.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
