Suggest Treatment For An Enlarged Thymus Gland

Diagnosed accidentally with enlarged thymus gland, 16mm, while having Head/Neck CT for other issue. No symptoms. Blood test has shown slightly positive for autoimmune disorder. Thoracic surgeon wants to perform Thorascopic Thyectomy surgery. 5 docs from this cancer clinic agrees. However, I decided to monitor and wait 2-3 months to have another chest CT. Going to see a Rheumatologist soon regarding autoimmune disorder. Any suggestions moving forward?

Hi,

An enlarged thymus may cause auto immune disorders like myasthenia gravis or auto immune thyroiditis or malignancy etc.

Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is. Better get the surgical resection done if you have any proved autoimmune disorders.

Please consult your doctor, he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
