Suggest Treatment For Acute Neck Pain And Stiffness

I am an American living in Ireland, Recently saw a doctor for acute neck pain from stiff neck while recovering from the flu. I was given 500mg of Paracetamol - take two tabs three times of day. Felt better yesterday and stopped taking it when I discovered that it what I know the drug to be acetophemin (sp). Not feeling as good today. Should I go back to the dose, reduce the amount? I am 69 years of age and don t want to damage my liver. I would appreciate your recommendations.

Hi there. It is not uncommon to have neck stiffness and pain after viral illness or flu. If you don't want to take oral medicines, yu can try local applications in the form gel or lotions. They have soothening effect and relive pain mos of the times. Also ice gel application can help during the initial few days. If the pain still persists at the end of the week, physiotherapy under prescription
in the form of ultrasonic massage can help provided u have no contraindications to the same.If it still persists it is prudent to visit your Orthopaedic again.
All the best. With regards.
