Suggest Treatment For Acute Bronchitis With Shortness Of Breath

I have symptoms of acute bronchitis, it hurts to breathe (slightly), and I can t take deep breaths in without coughing severely. I play trumpet in marching band, and ALSO have my band lesson tomorrow, and I was wondering, because of my problem breathing, if I should continue playing. Please understand that I have an extremely important part in the band, in which I have to work up to hitting a high C (which requires a lot of deep breathing for me) so the answer to my question is urgently important to me. Thanks.

Pulmonologist 's  Response
Thanks for your question on HCM. In my opinion you should do the following steps.
1. Consult pulmonologist and get done pulmonary function test (PFT) for diagnosis of acute bronchitis.
2. Start Tab Azithromycin 500mg once daily for 5 days.
3. Take antihistamines and anti inflammatory drugs for 5 days.
4. Take oral bronchodilators like Acebrophyllin 100mg twice daily.
5. Take mucolytic and expectorant syrup.
If you are improved in 5 days than chest x ray is needed. You may need inhaled therapy if not improve in 5 days.
