Suggest Treatment For Acne

I m an 18 year old male. I suffer from acne and have been for 7 years. As of the age of 16, I ve been getting pimples that are rather large and just sit on my face for 2-3 weeks and then eventually turn a purple/black color. Some do eventually pop and bleed more than normal pimples do and instead of the usual white puss that comes with a normal pimple, there us a thicker orange substance, as if its sebum clumped together. What s happening and is there anything to prevent such pimples from coming back or to at least decrease the noticeability?

Hello
Thanks for the query.

Don't worry acne is a common problem in adolescent age group.
It will decrease with age.

It is very important to know the cause of acne in order to approach it properly.
Following are the common causes.
1. Blocked glands of face
2. Bacterial infection.
3. Excess Oil production by glands.
4. Environmental pollution.

It is better to go for a combined approach to get rid of acne completely.
Please follow the following.
1. Use a combination of adapalene or other retinoid cream and clindamycin. This will take care of blockade as well as bacterial infection
2. Use a water based sunscreen with spf 30.
3. Use a drying face wash like tea tree oil.
4. Its best to keep face covered by cloth whenever possible to protect from dirt.
5. Don’t rupture or try to remove scabs from infected acne, This will lead to pigmentation and scar formation.

Don’t apply steroid creams, they give immediate relief but later cause damage.
Let me know if you have any other doubts.
Thank you.
