Hello, I am a 55 yr. old male with no health problems in the past. About 9 months ago I started getting what looks to be acne outbreaks. Except these start off as little white heads that come up all over my face and if left alone they eventually turn into sores that have a burning sensation. They do not heal up as with typical acne the only way they clear up is with an antibiotic. At the same time as the outbreak on my face I also get sores on my scalp that also feel and look like acne and left alone end up secreting an orangeish/amber clear fluid that turns crusty. Also I noticed that I have broken out with back acne since this all started. The problem is, nothing in my daily routine has changed in my life. No new soaps, shampoos, dietary changes, etc. and I haven t had any acne problems since puberty. I worked in call center where I shared a cubicle with hundreds of other people. So I thought I might have picked up a staph infection or some form of MRSA. At the time all this started I just happen to have a Dentist appointment to have my teeth cleaned and during the checkup they said they thought I had a periodontal infection even though I wasn t having any teeth problems. So I thought aha that was the problem. They recommended me to see a periodontist for either surgery or extraction. So I ended up having my teeth pulled to get rid of the (thought to be problem), and going to dentures but that didn t work. During that time I was prescribed K-Flex. to cover any infections. I have been on Doxycycline 100mg daily for the last nine months to keep this problem under control. But every time I stop taking it within 3-4 days the sores start coming back just like clock work. So I m thinking I had picked up some form of MRSA. So I went and had lab swabs cultured to see what that would reveal, only to have the results come back as normal flora with no bacteria shown. I am at a loss as to what this may be. I have no insurance and have already spent over 4 thousand dollars out of pocket trying to find out what the problem is. Any help wood be appreciated.
