Suggest Treatment For Accidental Intake Of Xanax By Children

My child took half of a xanax bar, I broke the bar in half. I went to get something to drink, came back in the room, and half was missing. I immediately checked his mouth. He can t stand and is falling over. I tried to induce vomiting and nothing. I have given him water and food. he is 19 months old and like 45 lbs. What should I do from this point on.

Take your child to the emergency room right away. I am not sure of the dose that your child ingested, but there are medications that can be given to reverse the effect of benzodiazepines in the case of emergency. Your child may not be able to breathe on his own and this is likely an overdose scenario. I would not delay.
