Suggest Treatment For Abdominal Pain Due To Scar Tissue After Undergoing Hysterectomy

I ve had abdominal pain and swelling for several months. History goes back to a hysterectomy 3.5 years ago. Uterus and right ovary was removed. After an infection and pain, surgeon went back in 10 weeks later and found endometriosis that hadn t been seen before and a lot of scar tissue. Left ovary had already adhered to left abdominal wall. 3 weeks later she removed other ovary. After months of more pain after that, I was referred to a general surgeon to discuss removal of scar tissue. I opted to try PT and other things first. Now, 3.5 years later, the abdominal swelling and pain has gotten worse. Went to GI, who also referred me back to the same general surgeon for scar tissue removal. I saw him today and he asked, after looking at a recent CT scan, if I was sure that everything had been removed (uterus and both ovaries). He said there looks to be a soft tissue mass of some sort between the bladder and rectum, looks like a tampon. Obviously not that, haven t had to use one of those in almost 4 years. He seemed hesitant to do the scar tissue removal that he was willing to do years ago. Advice?

OBGYN 's  Response
Hello,

The pain in the abdomen can be caused by adhesions after surgery. This can be removed only surgically. To help reduce the pain it is best to take light meals and avoid having indigestion.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Rakhi Tayal, OBGYN
