Suggest Treatment For Abdominal Discomfort, Gas And Diarrhea

Hi, For a month now I ve had frequent abdominal/bladder discomfort as well as a lot of gas. My doctor has diagnosed it to be gastritis but this has been a full month of constant discomfort, often pain and sometimes diarrhoea. When i press against certain parts of my abdominals there is pain and I also have back stiffness that results in cracking and sometimes pain? Any ideas?

Hello,

This does not sound simple gastritis, there must be underlying reason which has to be evaluated for further management.

Primary working tips for better outcome are:

- Prefer soft, light, bland, and vegan diet till possible
- Consume more of whole grains, cereals, pulses, legumes, and organic fresh fruits
- Avoid all oily, spicy, non-veg, hot beverages, junk foods, and carbonated drinks
- Avoid over eating, and prolong fasting
- Avoid resting upto 2 hours after meals
- Fix your timing of breakfast, lunch, and dinner till possible
- Avoid late night parties, and dinners
- Keep the head end of the bed elevated for 30 degrees when resting
- Have regular walking in fresh air, exercises, Yoga
- Avoid smoking, and alcohol if consuming
- Avoid stress, and anxiety
- Manage to have regular sound sleep of 8 hours

Intake of Proton pump inhibitors as omeprazole or pantoprazole on empty
stomach 1 hour prior to lunch; antacid syrups as Mylanta or others according to the advice of your doctor helps.

Keep your BP (Blood Pressure), blood sugar, cholesterol, body weight under control. Later on may need ultrasound or upper GI endoscopy according to the progress.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
