Suggest Treatment For Abdominal Cramp

I m female, 39 yrs old. On May 2 (evening) had severe abdominal cramps requiring medical attention for Pethidine and Buscopan injection. Vomited once but clear fluid, and bowels opened once (normal stools). Treated for suspected food poisoining. Went home with Metronidazole. About 5 am of May 3rd, I endured almost 20 mins of rigors. Started on my Metronidazole tablet. Cramps were still there but still uncomfortable. Subsequently no diarrhea or vomiting for the following days. Quite weak, so slept most of the day. Went on until May 6 when a doctor friend recommended to start on ciprofloxacin. About three hours after that dose, I had one episode of loose stools, mostly water that looked oil tinged and a bit frothy. No more since. I have been experiencing excessive sweating with every small effort (eg popping outside to pick up the newspaper). Is this due to medication or my suspected food poisoning?

Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history about 39 years old female patient had abdominal cramps - vomited clear fluid, normal stools, treated for suspected food poisoning on May 2. On Metronidazole, sent home, had rigors on May 3 but no diarrhea and vomiting, has weakness, Recommended to start Ciproflxacin by a Doctor friend, watery diarrhea once since then, excessive sweating, wants to know whether this is due to medication or food poisoning...
As per the history you have provided, this looks to be food poisoning for which you should have started on antibiotic far before.
I would advise you the following:
Watch for any other symptoms of reaction like skin eruptions.
Send sample of stool and blood for tests and for blood culture and sensitivity.
Continue Metronidazole and Ciprofloxacin as before.
Tale probiotics and multivitamins
Take curds/yogurt and bananas.
Clinical re-evaluation by a Doctor and additional treatment if any as needed.
