Suggest Treatment For Abdominal And Lower Back Pain During Menstruation

Hi, I am 22 years old and I have been suffering from menstral pain for 6 hours straight. My left ovary has been feeling constantly achy and my lower back throbs with pain. This is the second day of my period and the flow is really heavy. Advil and midol won't help, is there anything I can do for the pain? Is this normal?

Hi,
I understand your concern.
Normal menstrual cramps are due to uterine contractions , they start few days before or during menstruation.-with pain in back or lower abdomen. They usually last for 3-4 days.. They can be mild or severe.
They can be managed by rest, lying in supine position( lying on abdomen), Hot fomentation, massage of back or abdomen gives some relief.
- avoid food like caffeine & avoid smoking.pain killers like ibuprofen, other pain relievers or oral contraceptives with your doctor's advice.
If there is no relief with this routine treatment further investigations & expert's advise for the management.
Thanks.
