my son is 8 years old and is having some problem in vision from distance. we took him to an optician who said he has got a number .75 in both eyes but he advised us to see a eye doctor as it is for the fist time for my son and the doctor will give some drop which will clear his lenses and the number might get reduced or eliminated completely. pls advise
since he is 8years old, his accommodation is strong and he is getting specs first time, better get refraction after atropine oint ment for 3days. Now what ever power you get for him correct.
Well power improvement by medication is rare. Rarely hydration of lens during development (nutrition, vitamins, diabetes etc) to some extent is reversible. these conditions are very rare. These same developmental conditions cause onset of myopia and its progression.
Still visit ophthalmologist, as it is always good check his retina and dilatation refraction. But do not expect power to come down by drops or medication.
He needs evaluation and constant correction of power.
