Suggest Treatment For A Swollen Foot

I fell a few days ago and my foot is sore, but not swollen. It is not bruised and I am able to walk on it. I am not sure if I should have an x-ray to see if it is broken. I hate to keep walking on it if there is a fracture, but I also don t want to needlessly have the expense of an x-ray. How do I determine if an x-ray should be done, or just see if it feels better with time? I am a ballroom dancer, so need to make the right decision. Thank you
