Suggest Treatment For A Swollen Bump On The Eyebrow

I hit the bone under my eyebrow when standing up at full force on the corner of a tray. It immediately got a small swollen bump and it hurt extremely bad even to move my eyebrow muscles. Now I have a headache in the frontal part of my forehead area. I hit my bone at full force extremely hard so I didn t know if I should be concerned.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

First of all, it's sad to know what you had been going through lately.

Based on the history you have shared, it is most likely post-traumatic inflammation and may resolve within few days but for symptomatic relief, OTC analgesics like acetaminophen or Ibuprofen along with muscle relaxants like tizanidine may be used. Ice packs may also help.

However, if difficulty in moving eye muscles, the possibility of orbital cellulitis should be ruled out. X-ray of skull, facial bones and paranasal sinuses should be done to rule out bony fractures.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physician
