Suggest Treatment For A Swollen Bruise On The Foot

Six weeks ago my foot was stepped on by someone wearing heels. It left a pretty big swollen bruise. Its been six weeks and while its not as painful or as it was when it initially happened, it still hurts when I touch it and the bruise is still visible. I can also still feel a lump under the bruise. Do I need to go see a doctor?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello!

Thank you for the query.

Yes, you should consult your doctor. The lump you are able to palpate can be a cyst or hematoma. After the injury some blood has appeared outside the blood vessels (in the soft tissues).
The cyst can also appear after such injury. It is usually painless and soft when touching it.
I suggest you to consult general surgeon with this issue. In case of any doubts, soft tissues ultrasound should be done.

Hope this will help.
Regards.
