Suggest Treatment For A Stiff Neck And A Bulge At The Neck

My neck has been very stiff and ROM limited for weeks. Thought was a fibromyalgia flare up after being sick. Thoracic back, arms, shoulders also very sore. Major spasms in neck and mid back. Lower extremities are heavy and numb-ish/tingly- to my feet. Right leg worse than left. My upper part of leg in front has a very heavy sensation. Yesterday, noticed now a bulge at base of neck. Is this compression issue /nerve compression causing radicapulthy or however you spell it. Does the bulge indicate bulging/herniated disc?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have stiff neck and a bulge at the neck . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like cervical spondylosis , cervical radiculopathy , migraine or muscle spasm . The symptoms can also occur due to lymphadenopathy , so consult ENT specialist ,who may prescribe antibiotics along with anti inflammatory .I would suggest you to apply warm compresses take proper rest , and take ibuprofen or acetaminophen for pain . Consult orthopedic surgeon for proper examination . Doctor may order CT scan or MRI along with physical examination of the neck . Doctor may prescribe muscle relaxant along with anti inflammatory , anti emetic drug or recommend physical therapy .

Hope your concern has been resolved.
