Suggest Treatment For A Small Round Rash On The Face

My son is 12yrs old, two days ago he had a small round rash on his face a little smaller than a dime, it has progressed to the size of a quarter with little tiny blisters. He says they itch but I have kept him from scratching the area. He says his neck is sore on the side with the rash.

Hello. Thank you for writing to us at healthcaremagic

Though it would be really hard to tell what it is exactly without having a look at it but I would suggest a possibility of either Tinea Or Eczematous dermatitis.
The fact that it is itchy and probably has some fluid filled lesions as well suggests that it is most likely infected eczematous dermatitis.
Tinea is usually dry, scaly and itchy. The diagnosis of tinea is usually clinical and it can be confirmed with a KOH scarping test to look for fungal elements.
Treatment for a confirmed fungal infection would be with Oral and topical antifungal agents.
For infected eczematous dermatitis I would suggest Oral antibiotics to take care of oozing/ fluid filled lesions along with topical steroid+antibiotic combination cream, twice daily.
An OTC oral antihistamine e.g cetrizine syp will provide symptomatic relief from itching.
I suggest that you take him to a dermatologist for a confirmatory diagnosis as well as appropriate prescription.

Regards
