Suggest Treatment For A Red Rash On The Thigh Of A Child

Good day. My 2 1/2 year old son developed a rash in between his thighs last weekend, this weekend he started with a rash on both ( outer side) sides of his bum. It was red and inflamed, I have been putting plain aqueous cream on it as it went dry. What could this be? and the possible cause?

Most likely cause of rash in this age group in this area is either diaper dermatitis, intertrigo or candidiasis which is a fungal infection. For all of them you need to keep the area as dry as possible, avoid use of diapers, make him wear cotton underwear or shorts. You can use combination of beclomethasone and clotrimazole over the red areas for a week along with levocetrizine syrup. If his condition doesnt improve with all these measures, you need to consult a doctor.
