Suggest Treatment For A Protrusion At The Base Of The Vaginal Wall

As of 10/12/14 I just felt a protrusion of some sort at the base of my vaginal wall. I started my menstrual cycle as well. I have never felt anything like this before. It is not painful. If you take the index finger and thumb, making a circle of one hand and the index finger of the other hand and curve putting it all together it looks like the top of a mountain. It is not painful at all and I was wondering what it could possibly be. I work out and am very active but my workouts have become more rigirous in the past four months. I cannot afford to see a doctor due to no income and no insurance. I need someones help to understand more about the women parts that just occur out of no where.

Hello,

You are suffering from a protrusion at the base of your vagina; wall. It is not painful. Your symptom may be indicative of a boil, cyst or developing urethral / vaginal carbuncle, vaginal prolapse(anterior / posterior / apical). Maintain hygiene, do not pop or prick. Keep it clean and wear soft loose cotton clothes. You are suggested to get clinically examined by your gynecologist, if it needs to be drained (boil and carbuncle), it will be drained and antiseptic dressing done.

If removal (cyst) is required it will be done by minor surgery and conservative (antibiotics and analgesics) given. However, in case prolapse of the vagina is detected. You will have to get done, pelvic ultrasound, pelvic floor MRI & CT scan of your abdomen and pelvis so that treatment can be started at the earliest. Your treating doctor may recommend surgery.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
