Suggest Treatment For A Muscle Pull In The Lower Back

A couple of days ago, I was lifting my 40 lb. 3 year old into the car. After only lifting her about 4 inches, I felt something pull in my lower back with excruciating pain. I had to put her down and could hardly move with tears uncontrollably coming down my face. For the first 24 hours or so it hurt in my lower back and buttocks. The second day, it seemed to have moved slightly lower and included my top back of my left leg. What could cause this and should I see my family doctor for treatment?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
hello i read your question and understand your concern
yes, you have to go as early as possible to check with your family doctor
as in my opinion and according to your symptoms you have got your back muscle pulled/sprain or might be a disc prolapse due to sudden weight lifting
i would also like to ask that
* is there any sound when this pain happened
* your age is?
* any disease you are having specially related to your bones
i would suggest to have one x-ray lumbo sacral spine AP & LAT done
and also check you s.calcium and vit D levels
and take Muscle relaxants and strong pain killers/anti inflammatory medicines
and take rest,avoid to lift heavy objects, try to sit with back support
i hope my answer will satisfy you
good luck & tc
