Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a rash on my left arm upper and lower arm on the backside. It comes and goes. It never completly goes away but get very faint and then just starts itching and gets several small bumps. It has been going on for a couple of weeks. What could it be?
The rash on your left arm can be either due to dermatitis or fungal infection (Tinea) in that region. Recurrence of the rash is indicative of incomplete eradication or persistence of the causative agent.
Management includes: 1. Keeping the area dry & avoid too much exposure to water or sweat formation. 2. Antihistamine preparations like cetirizine to reduce the itching sensation & provide symptomatic relief. 3. Application of topical antifungal cream like Clotrimazole or Miconazole to tackle the causative organism. 4. Topical antibiotics to prevent secondary bacterial infections.
If symptoms still persist or aggravate further, then it will be better to consult a Dermatologist & get a proper examination done to find out the actual cause. So that appropriate management steps could be taken.
Also avoid wearing tight clothes, as it will cause sweating & predispose to fungal infections. Wishing you a Good Health. Take care.
