Suggest Treatment For A Hard Painful Lump On The Clavicle

I have a hard lump on my right clavicle. I showed it to my rheumatologist who I see for fibromylagia. Ordered xray of clavicle. Results normal. It is been there approximately 6-9 months. While typing my update on my chart, never looking at me, said it should be checked for soft tissue cancer sacroma and walked out. I am 65 years old waiting to have open MRI scheduled...completely overwhekmed

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
Welcome to HCM.

If this hard painful lump over right side of clavicle has been examined by rhematologist then it can not be superficial lump like lipoma or abscess or any other benign lump otherwise your doctor must have diagnosed it.

If you X-ray clavicle result is normal then there is no underlying bony pathology to this lump.

I may agree with your doctor's opinion that it could be soft tissue sarcoma but it must be confirmed by tissue biopsy examination and MRI scan.

So,you should book an appointment to nearby pathologist and radiologist for this tests.

Hope this helps.

Regards,
