I have a hard long lump on the inside of my right buttock, I went to the base doctor yesterday and he said it looked like a torn muscle and to use a heat pack. I did that and today it is so much worse, I can t sit, walk or even stand. It s very painful, red and swollen with lots of fluid around the hard lump. It s hot to touch too. Please help

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello!

Thank you for the query.

Its not a torn muscle for sure. Most likely you have a pilonidal cyst which has gotten infected. Pus has appeared so the lump is now a kind of abscess. Pain, redness and swelling are typical symptoms of such thing.
I suggest you to do not wait with it. Please consult general surgeon. Abscess should be incised and drained. If the acute inflammation will be gone, the cyst should be removed.

Hope this will help.
Regards.
