Suggest Treatment For A Bruise On The Thigh

I ran into a bench a few days ago and developed a bruise on my thigh. Today after getting off work I noticed the bruise is bigger than it was this morning. Is it normal for bruises to get bigger a few days after an injury? Also is there anything that can help heal them faster?

Hello,

I can understand your concern for the bruise on thigh which is getting larger in size.

It appears from you query that the impact of injury was quite high because of which you have got large bruise.

I suggest you to not to touch, pinch or pop the area. Do not wear any tight garments compressing the area and may cause pain.

In my patients I suggest to do cold compression of the area. A pain killer and anti-inflammatory tablet such as diclofenac or ibuprofen or paracetamol helps in reducing the pain and inflammation.

If at all the area is still increasing in next 24 hours then I suggest you to meet your treating doctor at the earliest.

All the best.
