Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a lump/boil on my underarm it started off kind of mushy but now its hard and is starting to hurt i also just had a baby a week ago it was mushy before i had her and it just got solid like 2 days ago its gradually getting bigger every day what should I do
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain a boil in the underarm seems to be most probably a hair follicle infection leading to a painful hard lump in the armpit..
You should consult a General Physician and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation will be done..
You can be advised to apply a Triple antibiotic ointment over it along with a short course of antibiotics like Amoxicillin and pain relievers like Acetamiophen, [considering that you are breastfeeding mother]..
Also do cool compresses over the lump and keep the area clean.. Avoid scratching it to prevent spread of infection..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards.. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
