Hello there,
I can understand your concern. PCOD is a very common problem affecting women and the problem is that your periods are delayed and irregular. That is why we prescribe Deviry in the last part of the cycle to ensure that every month you get a period on time. If this doesnt happen then the uterine lining grows unopposed because of the action of estrogen (one type of female hormone) and you may get a late and very heavy period. Making you weak and anemic. That is the only reason to prescribe Deviry from the 18th day for 10 days so that you get you period on time. But that will not reduce your underlying problem. Taking Deviry for few days even for a long term is not going to cause any serious effect on your body. You may feel some breast tenderness and nausea while on the tablet. But as such there side effects with this is very rare. You can choose not to take the tablet and wait for your period to come normally in some months. If you are overweight try to lose weight and eat a healthy diet (avoid junk food) and exercise regularly. This will reduce the underlying problem of PCOD. If ever you try to get pregnant that is the time when you may need some different type of treatment. That can be dealt with at the right time.
Hope this helps.
Take care.
