Suggest Treatment For Hashimoto S Thyroiditis

24 yr old Female I was diagnosed with Hashimoto s thyroiditis years ago and after seeing many doctors I am still not on medication for it.... (Even with recent test from last month showing my the abnormalities). I am always tired.. Mentally and physically.. I can barley get out of bed most days. (I miss work bc I can t wake up.. I don t go out or grocery shop because I m so tired.,, don t talk to friends and family avoiding their calls cause mentally too tired to think. I barley eat (maybe once a day) now weighting 98lbs at 5 5 . Also as tired as I am I cannot sleep well.. (Insomniac) . Migraines everyday, weakness, pain. It s gotten so bad that I m sure I seem like a hypochondriac when I tell the doctors of my issues. I honestly feel like death.. Any suggestions? :)

Hi, I have gone through your question and understand your concern.

You haven't mentioned your lab reports but as you mentioned you are diagnosed case of hashimoto's thyroiditis plus you are symptomatic so you should start taking levothyroxine 50mcg once daily before breakfast. The usual adult dose is 150mcg but you start from 50mcg and get your thyroid function test done after 6-8 weeks. Dose can be increased later if needed depending on your thyroid function tests report.

Hope my answer will help you.
Regards,
Dr. Maria Daud
