Suggest Treatment For Chiari Malformation

Hello I have a Chiari Malformation 1 herniation at 7 mm. I recently experienced pain and numbness in my hands and arms. I then had a emg that showed no nerve damage which resulted in an MRI. This showed a bulging C5-C6. Since then about 1 month of pain, 3 -4 months ago, I have have no problems. I am on a cocktail of medications to help with the pain and to sleep for my Chiari. Will this condition get worse? What are your suggestions?

Hello!

Welcome on Healthcaremagic!

My name is Dr. Aida and I am glad to attend you!
Considering your clinical situation and the presence of Chiary malformation, I would recommend consulting with a neurosurgeon and discussing about surgery as a possible definitive treatment option.

Hope you will find this answer helpful!

Best wishes!
