Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My wife used a wrist cuff to measure her blood pressure and the results were 181/127 on her right arm and 167/80 on her left. She is taking medication for high blood pressure(Vals/HCTZ 80/12.5) but it concerns me that her BP is so different from one arm to the other. Do I have anything to worry about?

Hi Thank you for asking HCM I have gone through your query. As you getting a different reading on both hands you should confirm it by rechecking with your GP.If then also difference is there, it should be investigated.Usually blood pressure difference in arms can be due to atherosclerosis in arteries of arms or organic problems with heart. In such case an Echo cardiography and doppler study of arteries will be needed to rule out that.In case of atheroma block it can be managed surgically.Hope this may help you. Let me know if you have any further query.
