Suggest Treatment Difficulty In Urinating

Unable to urinate without the help of temporary cathther. Had prostate cancer treatment first on Leuproline and later IGRT. Prostate size reduced, PSA going down after radiation. Oncologist adviced use of temporary foley, however I stay dependant of foley and cannot urinate without it. I can retain urine as long as six hours, but then I have to use cathether to relieve disconfort and pain. Bladder sphinter does not respond when there is need and stays closed.
What can I do to improve and eventually get back to normal urination?

Urologist 's  Response
Hi
The problem might stem from two different factors- one is the bladder becoming weak and unable to push urine through or second cause being blockage to the urine passage which could be at various levels- prostate, sphincter muscle or urethra(stricture). Unless full evaluation is done as to find the cause, I will be unable to suggest a treatment now.
Please see an urologis who might want to do a cystioscopy and urodynamics to find the cause of the problem.
