Suggest Therapy For Obsessive Compulsive Disorder

Hey my name is natasha. I suffer for OCD. The question I have is can I get zoloft with going to a doctor? I have no insurance because I am a college student and can not really afford it. I use to take zoloft when I was a teenager but I stopped taking because i was going to join the navy but that fall though. So, I Have been off zoloft for about 2 years. I though i have it under control, but now as i enter my jr year of college. The ocd is getting worse. My hands are being washed raw and my panic attacks are starting to affect in class.

Psychiatrist 's  Response
Hello thanks for asking from HCM

OCD is a common anxiety disorder and need treatment under evaluation from a psychiatrist. You cant get Zoloft or Sertraline without having written prescription of a doctor. You are in teenage and have progressive worsening of symptoms like repeated hand washing and panic attacks so there is urgent need to consult a psychiatrist for your symptoms. Sertraline in high doses will help to control your symptoms. Talk to your parents and consult a psychiatrist.

Apart from this till you consult a psychiatrist, try relaxation exercises and Behaviour therapy. Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) along with relaxation exercise will help to reduce the frequency of symptoms and will help you. Thought stopping is other modality of treatment. Behavioural modifications have almost equal efficacy to medicines if properly practiced.

Thanks, hope this helps you. Take Care
