Suggest Therapy For Lung Cancer

yes I just lost my mother to complactions of cancer, My dad as well has had lung cancer,part of lung taken out at UAB went home quit smoking,Now he has advanced 3 in left lung and countinues to smoke.We are waiting on this new machine that zaps the one area with radation,but now in lymph node and he still countines to smoke?What should I expect

As he is continuing smoking he will be in stage 4 of his disease.
Treatment would consist of palliative chemotherapy.
Average survival time is from 3 to 6 months.
