Suggest Therapy For Extreme Exhaustion

Hi I am a 42 year old female who in taking regular 20mg fluoxetine (for my depression) and 800ui caps colecalciferol for low vitamin D levels. I have fibriods which are causing me a lot of pain my periods are very light as I used to suffer heavy periods and clotting so I had an endometrial ablation, I have noticed that I am getting extremely exhausted and am sleeping for up to 12 - 14 hours a day depending on what I have done the day before. I have 3 children and have also been sterilized. I have asked the Dr s that I would like a hysterectomy done as I cannot tolerate the pain anymore and this is affecting my day to day life my consultant has referred me to get a second option, surely this should me my choice can they do this and do you think that I am making the right choice?

Hi,

Hysterectomy can be a choice for you. But there are effects due to hysterectomy itself. You will attain a post menopausal state after hysterectomy. Already, you are on vitamin D supplements. Removing the uterus causes the female hormones to lower their level which affects the bones also. It will be better for you to take pain killers during pain and tolerate for few more days. There are other options for pain relief also. You can discuss with your gynecologist once.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
