Suggest Therapy For Diabetes

Dear doctor, In february 2010. I had fasting glucose plasma level of 6.89 mM/L, and today (Sept. 2010) it was 8.21 mM/L. I am 47, obese (170 cm and 113 kg) and I take clozapine for a number of years (50 mg at the bedtime). Today, my physician introduced me metformin (500 mg twice a day). Last year I started to take drugs for arterial hypertension, now I take ramipril and amlodipine. I wonder do I already have diabetes mellitus type 2, or it has to be confirmed with one more blood test showing fasting glucose over 7.0 mM/L in plasma. Anyway, even if I have diabetes, since it is an early stage, could it be overcome providing I lose at least 30 kg and practicing exercise. Can I be healthy enough again to regulate blood sugar without taking oral antidiabetics? So, could I be healthy again - without diabetes, or even though this may an early stage of diabetes it will never reverse to a healthy stage? Ninoslav

you have Hypertension, Diabetes, Obesity, i don't know the status of lipedemia.
in view of all these the probability of Metabolic syndrome.
Treatment for control of diabetes is
Diet modification
weight reduction
if still glycemic state is not under controlled the medication are given.
in your condition, the ideal goal would be
weight reduction
stress should be avoided,
this might help in reduction of your glycemic status which may eventually lead to reduction of dosage of diabetic drugs.
