Suggest The Response Of Thyroxine On The Body

My thyroid is enlarged and has nodes but my thyroxine levels are 'normal', but I have all the symptoms of hypothyroidism. My doctor has however put me on low dose (25 microgms) to see if I improve. How fast will the thyroxine work on me, what is the general response to prescribed thyroxine on the body?

Hello
I have gone through your question.

Thyroxine or Levothyroxine is a thyroid medicine that replaces a hormone normally produced by your thyroid gland to regulate the body's energy and metabolism.

It is important to take your Synthroid every morning,20 min before breakfast and avoid taking other drugs within 4 hours before and after you take this medicine.

-You should know that thyroxine treatment takes time.
It may take up to several weeks before you notice your thyroxine is working and you may notice a change in your symptoms.

-The generale role of thyroxine on the body is supporting all the the vital functions because it plays vital roles in digestion, heart and muscle function, brain development/function and maintenance of bones.

If these element are normal, than you will not have your symptoms any more. This is how the prescribet thyroxine may help you to feel better.

Be careful:Do not stop taking levothyroxine without talking to your doctor and talk with your doctor if you have any unwanted effects during this treatement.

Hope this information is helpful.
If you have other doubts, feel free and ask.
Regards.
