Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have taken adderall on and off since i was 18 and am currently 32. my dose has always been 20mg twice a day and ive always tried to take breaks every couple years. with new health care laws the wait times for PCPs and specialty doctors are 3 months or greater. Im wondering since ive taken it 8 out of the last 11 years if there is a simpler process for me to begin using the medication as a treatment again. thank you for your time
Adderall in adults can be taken starting with 5 mg every 6-8 hours. Gradually it may be increased if necessary up to 60 mg in a day.
I understand your concern with the time needed to schedule an appointment with the doctors but I would expect that setting an appointment with the PCP would be easier and earlier then setting an appointment with the specialist so I would recommend you to see your PCP and decide on starting the drug and if so which is the dose to start for you.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General & Family Physician
