Good Morning, I just had a capsule endoscopy done 9/23/15. I had radiation in 2008. My flare ups have become more frequent in the past 2 yrs....distention, pain, gas, diarrhea and nausea. I have had a number of ct s, an upper endoscopy and have been hospitalized 4 times in a yr. Last Dec I passed out and had to get 65 stitches in my mouth, lip and chin, along with 5 more in my head. Was in the hospital for a wk on cipro, flagyl, etc. The day I swallowed the capsule, I knew I was on the start of yet another episode, which lasted 4 days. My GI is sending me a script for an abdominal x-ray to make sure the capsule has past, along with blood work to check for Crohn s Disease. He is also sending my films, history, etc... to another GI in NYC from Mt Sinai. He told me I have narrowing in areas, small bowel obstructions and ulcers. I have radiation enteritis. Can Crohn s Disease be diagnosed from blood work, or is this along with his findings? I fear the capsule is logged in my intestines and will need surgery. I am also scared on what lies ahead for me.
